International admission

The Deanship of Graduate Studies at King Abdulaziz University offers scholarships to international students in fully funded programs in most graduate programs according to the following classifications:


Scholarships for International Students
The Target Group

Non-Saudi students (male / female) residing outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia whom they apply to study KAU postgraduate programs (Masters / PhD).

Scholarship Privileges for International Student

These are the seats obtained by non-Saudi students (male or female residing outside the Kingdom) to study in higher education institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

1- A monthly bursary.

2- A preparation allowance when coming for the first time.

3- The candidate would receive a free health care.

4- Providing an accommodation, scientific, cultural and social care,

5- The central Library and facilities.

6- Subsidized meals can be provided for the candidate.

7- An allowance for printing the thesis.

8- An allowance for shipping books (when graduated).

9- Providing the candidate with a two - way ticket annually.

10- The opportunity to upgrade the scholarship for distinguished students who have obtained a master's degree to a doctorate.

KAU General Admission Requirements for International Applicants

1- The Applicant must have a university degree from an accredited college or university and should have a degree with “very good” at least. (Graduation certificates & transcripts have to be certified from Saudi Embassy).

2- The Applicant’s age does not exceed (40) years For PhD, and (35) years for Masters.

3- The Applicant must have a record of good Conduct and must be medically fit.

4- Recommendation letters should be submitted from two of his former professors.

5- The Applicant must not have been dismissed from any university in the kingdom.

6- An approved exam in English is required for applicant whose first language is not English. The approved exams and minimum required scores are listed below:

-Applying for (MA / PhD) programs in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, an approved English language exam is not required.

-Some Programs might have Additional Eligibility Criteria and Requirements.

KAU Scholarships for Cultural Exchange and the Gulf Cooperation Council Students
The Target Group

KAU offers an academic seat for a non-Saudi candidate and it is an official scholarship according to special agreements approved by sublime directives (cultural exchange) within the signatory countries such as the Gulf Cooperation Council States and Yemen… etc.

It is divided into two parts:

Fixed External Scholarships: residing outside the Kingdom and obtaining a study visa.

Fixed Internal Scholarships: a resident inside the Kingdom.

KAU General Admission Requirements

1- The Applicant must have a university degree from an accredited college or university and should have a degree with “very good” at least. (Graduation certificates & transcripts have to be certified from Saudi Embassy).

2- The Applicant’s age does not exceed (40) years For PhD, and (35) years for Masters.

3- The Applicant must have a record of good Conduct and must be medically fit.

4- Recommendation letters should be submitted from two of his former professors

5- For internal scholarship students, (65) is minimum required scores in General Aptitude Test (GAT) for university students at National Center for Assessment.

6- The Applicant must not have been dismissed from any university in the kingdom.

7- An approved exam in English is required for applicant whose first language is not English. The approved exams and minimum required scores are listed below:

8- The student has to obtain a nomination letter from the competent authorities in his country and has to get the approval of the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom for his nomination.

9- Admission to Health Sciences Programs (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Applied Medical Sciences, Nursing and others) are unavailable.
