Abstract : Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations describe the motion of fluid flow in nature and they are called the governing equations of fluid flows . Solving Navier-Stokes equations is of great interest to the scientists and researchers . Due to the high nonlinearity , achieving the analytical solutions for the N-S equations is extremely difficult , if not impossible . Thus, we have to switch to numerical solutions with putting on certain restrictions on the N-S equations . The u-momentum equation: ∇.(ρUu)=-∂P/∂x+μ.∇^2 u (1) The v-momentum equation: ∇.(ρUv)=-∂P/∂y+μ.∇^2 v (2) The continuity equation : (∂(ρu))/∂x+(∂(ρv))/∂y=0 (3) This thesis contains four major chapters . The first chapter is about History, development and application of N-S equation. In the second chapter we go through the whole process that a CFD analysis normally requires i.e. generating mesh, setting boundary conditions , analyzing convergence and stability. In the third chapter numerical solutions of N-S equations are given using Finite Difference method and Finite Volume method. In the fourth chapter flow field plots after calculating Error are obtained and conclusion of this research work is submitted . References and Appendices are given . Code is given in Visual Basics .
