:
Background: Performance appraisal (PA) is a vital tool to measure nurses' performance in health care facilities. The Ministry of Health (MOH) in Saudia Arabia has adopted a new performance appraisal system (PAS) to ensure accurate measuring of the health care providers actual performance without errors or biases. Aim: To measure nurses' perception and satisfaction level toward the performance appraisal system PAS in Saudia Arabia ministry of health (MOH) government hospital.Method: A descriptive quantitative method, conducted on 946 nurses working in the five MOH hospitals at Kingdom one from each region. The data was collected using structured self-administrated questionnaires with non- probability convenience sampling technique. A researcher modified the study tool (questionnaire) to measure nurses' perception and their satisfaction level toward NPAS. Result:Study findings show that the nurses’ have a medium perception level toward NPAS equal 67.1% with a mean of 3.35, and a medium satisfaction level towards NPAS equal 66.57% with a mean of 3.33 degree. Conclusion / recommendation - nurses' have a medium level of perception and satisfaction to ward NPAS in general. And to effectively use PAS to achieve its' goals health organization's and nursing administration should study nurses' reaction to it, in addition to solve the issues that hinder its implementation.
