Abstract
:
The study aimed to identify the relationship between Perceived Administrative and Supervisory Authoritarianism as an independent variable and Passive Aggression as a dependent variable among public versus private sector employees: a descriptive, correlational and comparative study. To achieve this goal, two measures were administrated to collect participants data, who are (1065) public and private sector employees, Saudis and non-Saudis, males and females, randomly by applying Google Forms, and by using appropriate statistical treatments. The most important results of the study are: 1- The presence of perceived administrative and supervisory authoritarianism and passive aggression among public and private sector employees. 2- There is a significant and positive correlation (0.01) between perceived administrative and supervisory authoritarianism, and passive aggression. 3- The presence of statistically significant differences in perceived administrative and supervisory authoritarianism and its sub-dimensions among the sample members of the public and private sector employees in according to their vital and social characteristics (age, gender, nationality, educational qualification, sector, years of experience, monthly income). 4- The presence of statistically significant differences in perceived administrative and supervisory authoritarianism and its sub-dimensions among the sample members of public sector employees compared to private sector employees according to their vital and social characteristics. 5- The presence of statistically significant differences in passive aggression and its sub-dimensions among the sample members of the public and private sector employees in light of their vital and social characteristics. 6- The presence of statistically significant differences in passive aggression and its sub-dimensions among the sample members of public sector employees compared to private sector employees according to their vital and social characteristics. The study recommended: Work to enact legislations and laws that criminalize authoritarianism behaviors and raise awareness about passive aggression in the workplace. And directing researchers attention to study the phenomenon of administrative and supervisory authoritarianism and its relationship to passive aggression in different work environments and conduct comparative studies between them.
