Abstract
:
Over the years of 2020 and 2021, the world has faced an unpredicted pandemic that led to quick actions by governments to shift education from the traditional face-to-face learning into the technology-based virtual learning. As a result of this enormous shift, unpredicted and new requirements and needs arose in the face of all stakeholders in the educational process. Most of these needs orbit around concentration and motivation during these online sessions. Motivation is an essential pilar of the educational process and it is affected by various factors. Therefore, the current study analyzes the effect of the factor of motivation on the success of education in online learning. As a result, the current study sets out to examine the factors that affect students` motivation during online-learning. These factors include the teachers` gender, age, experiences, and level of education. Moreover, the current study aims at determining the factors that increase motivation for the students during online-learning. Finally, the current study determines and evaluates the obstacles that students face during online-learning. To achieve these goals, the current study is conducted at the Department of Education in Jeddah region for teachers in middle and high schools. To fulfill the requirements of the study, the descriptive analytical approach was employed by applying the social survey method. The results revealed that motivation of the students is directly affected by factors such as the age of teachers and the practical experience they possess because since there appears to be a statistically significant relationship between the two variables to virtual learning. Research results also indicated a strong relationship between the obstacles of online learning and the motivation of students during online-learning. Furthermore, it was revealed that various obstacles affect the motivation of the students, such as technical issues and teacher-student evaluation criteria.
