Abstract : This research is entitled “The Faith-Based Meanings of Allah’s Name al-Kabīr and Its Effects on the Individual and Society: A Theological Study”. Its importance is highlighted by the fact that it examines Allah’s Names and Attributes, which is one of the most important theological topics. It is not possible to attain Allah the Exalted’s pleasure without knowing the meanings of His Names and Attributes, for by knowing them, the slave attains knowledge of the truth about Allah the Exalted. It is also because the honour of any knowledge depends on the honour of what is known therein, and what is known with this knowledge is Allah the Exalted. Thus, busying oneself with this knowledge is to busy oneself with the loftiest matter that can be sought, and obtaining it is one of the noblest gifts for the slave. It is the foundation of faith and to which faith returns, because of the honour and sublimity of what it is attached to. Then there is the obligation to know Allah the Exalted as He has described Himself and as his Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, has described him. Its importance is also clear because of the Noble Qur’an’s concern for Allah’s Most Beautiful Names and His Attributes. This research aims to clarify the faith-based meanings of Allah’s Name al-Kabīr and its effects on the individual and society. It comprises an introduction, three chapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter deals with the subject of Allah’s Most Beautiful Names, the importance of believing in them, and the most important principles and issues connected to them. The second chapter deals with Allah’s Name al-Kabīr - its meaning, its occurrence in the Book and the Sunnah, and its faith-based significations - as well as the Most Beautiful Names that are connected to it. The third chapter deals with the effects of Allah’s Name al-Kabīr on the individual and society. The research concludes with a number of results, the most important of which is that Allah’s Names fall into three categories: those that indicate His Essence, those that indicate His Attributes, and those that are derived from His Actions. Allah’s Names and Attributes are one of the most important theological topics, and Islamic sects have followed various schools of thought regarding them. Allah, however, guided the First Three Generations and those who followed them to the truth. Some of Allah the Exalted’s Names are connected to Allah’s name al-Kabīr, and they are mentioned in the Noble Qurʾān, such as al-ʿAlī and al-ʿAẓīm. There is also a connection between His Name al-Kabīr and the Name al-Mutakabbir, both of which convey the meaning that Allah, Glorified is He, is greater than everything in His Essence and His Attributes, and He is exalted above every shortcoming, ill, and defect. In light of the aforementioned results, the study puts forward a number of recommendations, the most prominent being that school curricula include an elucidation of the sublimity of Allah’s Name al-Kabīr¸ as well as of Allah’s other Most Beautiful Name, every year, along with an elucidation of His Attributes in general and what they mean, and it should be done in a way that is removed from philosophical complexities and scholastic theology, such that it makes clear Allah’s sublimity, Mighty and Majestic is He, and shows Him reverence, love and awe. Keywords: faith-based meanings - Allah’s Name al-Kabīr - individual - community
