The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted most of the world's industries, and in most places all over the world, education is one of the sectors that has transitioned entirely to a fully online mode. During the pandemic, online learning was the best alternative for continuing education, especially in tertiary education, but it was not without its challenges. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers and students’ attitudes and beliefs about providing /receiving online written corrective feedback using Blackboard. Another secondary aim of the study is to explore the challenges that faced the participants when using Blackboard for corrective feedback in the Saudi context. Responses to a survey-based questionnaire of 130 EFL teachers and 219 EFL learners in a Saudi university’s Preparatory Year Program were analysed using SPSS for quantitative data and thematic analysis of qualitative data. Findings revealed that students have more positive attitudes toward online corrective feedback than teachers. Also, there is a positive correlation between teachers’ and students’ attitudes and their beliefs about online corrective feedback. In addition, the main obstacles that confronted both EFL instructors and learners were related to technical and communication challenges. This study also shows that there are several other challenges faced by EFL instructors in providing online corrective feedback and by EFL learners in receiving it. These issues must be taken into consideration to make online learning effective in improving EFL students’ writing skills.
