Abstract : The theory of submanifolds as a field of differential geometry is as old as differential geometry itself. The study of submanifolds theory not only plays an important role in many diverse area of differential geometry and relativity (c.f., [15], [27], [28])but also in mechanics [15], and Lie theory approach of submanifolds is also applicable in solution of some partial differential equations. Our aim in present thesis to study hemi-slant submanifolds of almost contact manifolds. In the present thesis we have study the some geometric aspects of hemi-slant submanifolds of Sasakian and trans-Sasakian manifolds. We also study the totally geodesicness of leaves of distributions involved in definition of hemi-slant submanifold and also we see the impact of parallelism of operators T and Q on hemi-slant submnaifolds of Sasakian and trans-Sasakian manifolds. If the distributions are totally geodesic then one can study the warped product of leaves of the distributions. If warped product exist then warping function in this case can emerge as a solution of some partial differential equations, since most of natural phenomenon can be represented by some partial differential equations. That mean the output of present study can be used in different branches of science and engineering.
