Abstract : The present thesis deals with numerical investigations of heat transfer and nanofluid flow characteristics for combined free and forced convection situation in the entrance region of horizontal annuli for laminar flow. For numerical investigations, a thermal boundary condition of uniform heat flux at the inner wall and adiabatic outer wall was selected. The basic numerical procedure adopted in the present study is the SIMPLE algorithm. The problem was analyzed for constant fluid properties using finite difference method. The variation of density was taken into account only in the body forces (Boussinesq approximation). A three dimensional computer code developed by Nazrul Islam et al. [1] has been used to carry out the present analyses. The numerical investigations were carried out in the following range of parameters: 105
