Sample: Purposive sampling for 113 nurses and 113 patients. Results: more than half of nurses (61%) were selected from the medical department and 85.8% were female. 46.9% had more than 9 years’ experience. There was significant correlation between barriers facing nurses in preventing pressure ulcer, nurse’s knowledge and compliance regarding pressure ulcer. Conclusions: Nurses have adequate knowledge regarding prevention of pressure ulcers, but they did not always apply their knowledge to practice because they were facing some barriers affecting their compliance. The heavy workload /staff shortages, uncooperative patients, a shortage of pressure-relieving devices and, the presence of priorities other than pressure ulcer considered as the most barriers facing nurses’ compliance in prevention pressure ulcer. Recommendations: This study recommended that the managers should review nurses’ workload which the findings of this study have shown to be a major barrier in the priority given to the prevention of PUs.
