The researcher addresses the "Afta’l" formula between the origin of semantic and the context requirements applied analytical study in Sahih Muslim. The study aims to highlight complementarities between branches of the Arabic language and knowing the semantic value of the morphological form of "Afta’l" in Sahih Muslim and revealing the importance of context in determining the semantic.
The study relied on descriptive statistical analysis, which relies on collecting words in the form of "Afta’l" and then determine their significance, and then classify it into topics. The study has begun with introduction which addresses: Imam Muslim and his book “As-Sahih”, the relation of language to Prophet Traditions “Hadith”, morphological formulas and the impact of context thereof. The study came in three chapters; Chapter One: the "Afta’l" formula between meaning and use, and it consists of three topics: the First: the semantic the form of "Afta’l” among morphologists; the Second: the "Afta’l" formula relation with other morphological formulas; the Third: the morphological replacement in the formula “Afta’l”. Chapter Two: the semantics of "Afta’l" in Sahih Muslim, it includes thirteen topics: I: the meaning of abstract, II: the meaning of affiliation, III: meaning of “Tafa’l”, IV: the meaning of adoption, V: meaning of participation, VI: Miscellaneous meanings, VII: meaning of demand, VIII: the meaning of exaggeration, IX: the meaning of the stash, x: meaning of trial, XI: meaning of selection, XII : The meaning of taking over, XIII: meaning of “Astafa’l”. Chapter III: a statistical study.
One of the most important findings of the research: to clarify the role of context in determining the significance of "afta’l" formula in Sahih Muslim which helped in producing many connotations for one formula. New developed meanings were mentioned out from the context which had not prescribed by the morphologist before. The most common connotation have been identified through statistical it was that carry the meaning of abstract, with 30%, and the less common connotation is what was came in the meaning of adoption and the meaning of “asfta’l” with 1%.
The study recommends the possibility of completing the study of this formula in other books of Prophet Traditions “Hadith” or in collections of poems to find new meanings. |
