The study aimed to identify the potential impact of a set of the internal factors (financial planning, internal control and administrative efficiency) and a set of the external factors (legal environment, economic environment and competitive environment) on evaluating the financial performance of insurance companies; and in order to achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytic approach was used, the society of the study consisted of (31) insurance company listed in the Saudi Stock Market. Three managers were selected from each company as a study sample. The questionnaire was depended on as a method to compile all data required to identify the opinions of the managers, as three questionnaires were given to each company totaling (93) and (78) questionnaires were collected, the data were analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences program (SPSS).
The study concluded a number of the results, the most important of which is that the internal factors have impacts represented in (financial planning, internal control and administrative efficiency) on evaluating the financial performance of the insurance companies, the internal control was the first ranked most influential factors, being one of the internal contol, followed by the administrative efficiency on the second rank, and the last was the financial planning. The external factors have impacts represented in (legal environment, economic environment and competitive environment) on evaluating the financial performance of the insurance companies, competitive environment factor was the first ranked most influential factors, followed by legal environment on the second rank, and the last was the economic environment.
In the light of the results of this study, it could be recommended that, insurance companies should consider the internal factors (financial planning, internal control, administrative competence) and the external factors (the legal environment, economic environment, competitive environment) since these factors significantly impact on the assessment of financial performance of insurance companies, The study also recommended conducting more research and studies in this field . |
