Abstract : This research aims to investigate the role of peer-assessment (PA) in English speaking classes among Saudi female students in their foundation year at King Abdul-Aziz University. Moreover, the study explores participants' views in relation to their PA experience. To this end, a mixed methods approach with a quasi-experimental design was followed. A control group and an experimental group were used in the study. Additionally, participants' perceptions of PA were collected through a questionnaire and one-to-one interviews. The findings revealed that PA significantly improved the students' performance in the experimental group, compared to the control group. Furthermore, the results indicated that students generally had positive perspectives on PA. However, some issues regarding the PA process and its use need to be considered. The research concludes by providing some implications and recommendations for further research. Keywords: Peer-assessment, English speaking skill, English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
