Abstract : This study aimed to investigate the perspectives of English teachers on using social media in their instruction for intermediate and secondary schools. The study sample included (80) English teachers working in public schools located in Najran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The researcher adopted the analytical descriptive approach and used a questionnaire and interviews as the research instruments. The results include the following: 1) the first axis "the positive perceptions Saudi teachers towards integrating social media in English teaching periods" response rate was (medium), from the perspectives of study respondents; 2)the second axis "the negative perceptions of Saudi teachers towards integrating English teaching periods" response rate was (medium), from the perspectives of study respondents;3) the third axes " obstacles of using social media in teaching English "response rate was(medium ) ; 4) there are no statistically significant differences amongst study respondents' perspectives at (0.05) level of significance on the second axis (Saudi teachers' negative perceptions toward integrating social media in English teaching periods), based on variables (gender - educational qualification - years of experience).The study’s recommendations include the following: 1) developing educational strategies commensurate with the current digital age; 2) increasing the use of social media in the educational process with setting the proper regulations for it; 3)establishing more training courses and educational seminars, for English teachers to help sensitize them to appropriate usage of social media in the educational process.
