Abstract : Several applications are using the pin fins technology such as blades of the trailing edges in gas turbine and electronic cooling equipment because they have a high heat transfer rate. Slotted pin fins heat transfer rate is affected by the surface area and turbulence mixing in downstream. This study investigated the effect of the slotted pin fins shape numerically (3D simulation) on the flow structure, heat transfer coefficient, and pressure drop to measure the performance of the slotted pin fins. Two parallel plates with 8 arrays of single row slotted pin fins were installed. The pin diameter was slotted from the tube centerline (nozzle slot) with three angle variations. Reynolds number range started from 1,500 to 6,000. Navier- Stokes solver, was using to solve the momentum equation and heat transfer equation applying shear stress transport method (SST) by ANSYS-CFX Software. The end wall heat transfer enhancement was 52% for the slotted angle pin fins. It was more efficient in thermal performance than the regular slotted pin fins.
