Abstract : Preparation and characterization of photocatalytic with different loading ratios of Ag, Cu, Ni and Pd metals onto the surfaces of TiO2 by an impregnation method to enhance the photocatalytic activity of the particles for Photodegradation of organic dye. In this study, Methylene Blue (MB) was used to examine the efficiency of the photocatalytic composite. XRD, EDX, SEM and photo catalytic decomposition of MB were used to fully characterize the composites. The photodegradation of MB with the use of composites 5wt.%,10wt.%, 20wt.%,30wt.%,40wt.% and 50wt.% as photocatalysts, was studied in presence of Hg lamp and Xe lamp irradiation. For photocatalytic, the composite 20 wt.% (1:1) was chosen as the most effective sample for the removal of MB. This percentage was selected to complete the study. The (Cu, Ni, Pd/Ag)/TiO2 photocatalysts showed elevated behavior toward efficient photodegradation of MB under Hg lamp and Xe lamp Irradiation. Found that the most active metals were Ag and Pd which were higher than the bare TiO2 while Cu was the least one. Ni, however, showed induction periods > 70 min till it becomes higher than the bare TiO2 catalyst. These composites can be a simple and an inexpensive photocatalytic materials for water purification.
