Abstract : In English for Business classes, writing is a time-consuming process especially for ESP teachers who try to take the full responsibility of teaching this skill in class. Consequently, ample class time is spent on teaching rather than practice. In this study, flipped classroom strategy is employed to transform business writing classes into more learner-centered classrooms. The study aims to investigate the effectiveness of flipped classrooms in reducing writing errors of English Business students. It also seeks to explore the perceptions of ESP learners who experience flipped learning in business writing classes. For these purposes, (34) female Business Administration students joined the study; half of the participants (17) received flipped classroom treatment for eight weeks and the other half (17) learned business writing traditionally in class without any prior preparations. Qualitative methods were employed in data collection and analysis using writing samples and interviews. Error analysis was conducted on a writing corpus containing (119) samples collected from six different genres; formal emails, business letters, reports, memos, agendas, and meeting minutes. The results of error analysis indicated that the students who received flipped classroom treatment had far fewer interlingual and developmental errors compared to the traditionally taught group. Other findings also compared learners’ errors in samples written while receiving flipped classrooms treatment in physical sessions to errors found in samples written during virtual flipped learning sessions.Virtual flipped learning sessions resulted in less intralingual errors compared to physical flipped learning sessionsThe study recommends implementing flipped classrooms strategy to teach business writing as it has been found highly beneficial in both physical learning and virtual learning.
