This thesis is presented to the Faculty of Arts and Humanitarian Sciences, Department of Sharia and Islamic Studies for the fulfillment of the doctorate degree. It is a verification endeavor of the Book (ʻSharh’(Explaining) Al-Jameʼa Al-Kabeerʼ of Muhammad bin Al-Hassan Al-Shaibani) by: Imam abi Nassr Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Omar Al-Attabi Al-Bukhari (died 586H.) – A study and verification from the beginning of the (Book of Prayer) to the end of a (Chapter on Marriage by Word or Utterance).
In this verification endeavor, I relied on three versions. The first is from Jarallah Bookshop in Istanbul, the second is from Damat Ibrahim in Süleymaniye in Istanbul, and the third is Çorum Hassan Paşa Bookshop. The Thesis included an Introduction and two sections. In the Introduction, I explained the reasons for choosing this theme, difficulties of verification, the research plan and my method regarding it, as well as a description of the copies of the manuscript. Section One was for the study and it included two chapters. Chapter One: An Introduction to the author of the text. Chapter Two: An Introduction to the writer of the explanation. As for Section Two, it included the verified text. It comprised the Book of Prayer, the Book of Zakat, the Book of Oaths, and the Book of Marriage till a chapter on Marriage by Word or Utterance. All quotations and sayings were documented from approved sources as much as possible. I also commented on some issues that needed a comment whenever possible; I, then, provided a number of indexes to the thesis in service of the book and for easy reference to its contents. The significance of the book lies in its being one of the books on apparent narration upon which the Hanafi School depends, in addition to the status of the two authors as regards the text and explanation. |
