In the name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate, & blessings of Allah be upon His Messenger.
This research revolves around the policy of Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah in dealing with his opponents.
Its significance lies in the need for knowing scientific methodological rules for dealing with opponents in order to avoid division, desertion and dispute as well as handling the disturbed relationship among opponents, which mostly leads to vilified differences, divisions and disputes that weaken the Muslim Nation.
This research paper includes: an introduction, Preface chapter, two chapters and a conclusion, followed by indexes.
The Preface chapter includes a definition of an opponent and Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah. The first chapter: includes the policy of Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah in dealing with all of his opponents.The second chapter: includes the policy of Sheikh al-Islam in dealing with his opponents in jurisprudence.
This research has reached the following conclusions: the significance of following a sound scientific methodology when dealing with opponents; the choice of sage methods in rebutting their arguments. By doing so, the gap is narrowed; a dialogue is facilitated with them; distances are bridged; and objectives of dialogues are realised. Upon a careful consideration of the books of Ibn Taymiyah, one comes out with many scientific, educational and rooting benefits.
Among the key Recommendations to which this research has reached are: The importance of giving attention to examine the books of preceding Imams and induce their methods, understanding their dealings with matters, and their consideration of controversies and their people, in addition to the need for holding specialized courses in refining analytical skills and developing abilities. It would be preferable to hold the courses at the hands of specialists in Islamic jurisprudence in order to realise the desired goal as regards the analysis of jurisprudential texts. |
