Abstract : Biological control agents represent a diverse group of microorganisms that make symbiotic associations with plants, these microorganisms supposed to affect the ecology of plant, by frequently enhancing the capacity of host plant to survive and resist environmental and biological stresses thorough production of beneficial bioactive compounds. Therefore, the present study was focused on isolation, characterization, and identification of biocontrol agents from soil and shrimp shells from different places in Saudi Arabia. A total of fifty-five bacterial isolates were obtained and screened for their biocontrol activity against Fusarium oxysporum and E. coli. Four isolates recorded the highest activity and can be used as biocontrol agents. Two isolates were belonged to true bacteria and two isolates were belong to filamentous bacteria (actinomycetes). The selected four isolates grow well on chitin agar medium, thus there were characterized by morphological and physiologian and molecular methods. They exhibited differences in phenotypic analysis using partial 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The phylogenetic analysis revealed that the selected isolates were identified as Bacillus Subtlis, Amycolatopsis japonica SHJ3, Streptomyces sp. SHT41 and Bacillus paralicheniformis SHG53. In this study, interesting observations were found for each bacterial isolate, B. subtlis was isolated from the soil in Al-Jami’ah area while B. paralicheniformis was from marine Shrimp shells, Amycolatopsis japonica was isolated from the soil from Al-Sherifiyat area and Streptomyces sp. was from the soil in Al-Taif area. All isolates were screened for production of plant growth promotion and controlling some plant pathogens, in vitro. The four isolates had different abilities to solubilize phosphate, produce siderophore to acquire iron in addition they produce variable amounts of phytohormones, as gibberellic acid (GA), and indole acetic acid (IAA). Kay words: Fusarium, Amycolatops, Bacillus, Streptomyces, Tomato
