Abstract : The study of (the Balearic Islands) under Islamic rule aimed to highlight the history of the Balearic Islands as part of the Andalusia Islamic history. Many Islamic historical sources have not focused on its important role in shaping part of political, social, scientific, intellectual and economic history. The study was adopted the historical scientific method in finding the scientific facts in order to read the past in historical texts. To careful analysis the study material, depending on many sources and references for finding the scientific facts with objectively and scientific accuracy. This study identified the distinctive strategic location of the Balearic Islands and its role in the beginnings of the Islamic conquest of Al-Andalus, then it has become under Islamic rule. As the sequence of Islamic eras on its rule, beginning with the Umayyad Caliphate, the Taifa Kings era, the Almoravid Dynasty, and then the Almohad Caliphate. The political conditions of the Balearic Islands in each of the eras, and also internal and external conflicts in those historical periods and how they affect the islands until the occupation by the Christians. The study also focused on the groups of society of the Balearic Islands and an overview of their customs. In addition to the scientific and intellectual renaissance of the society of those islands. To highlight the cultural and scientific heritage of the Balearic Islands’ society as evidence for the scientific and intellectual renaissance in those islands, and the conditions that contributed to that prosperity. The study identified the factors that helped to promote the economic activity of those islands and the details of those helping factors and the economic relations that linked the Balearic Islands with the Islamic world and the neighboring Christian Kingdoms. As it has become one of the important trading stations in the Mediterranean Region.
