Abstract : This thesis dealt with the effects of the corona pandemic on employment contracts in the Saudi labor law; wherein the thesis began in the first chapter with the legal nature of the corona pandemic, Then the thesis moved in the second chapter to the legal effects of the corona pandemic on employment contracts, This thesis used the descriptive analytical approach; of the thesis in order to arrive at the desired results and recommendations. Through this thesis, we have found that the effect of the corona pandemic on employment contracts differs depending on the legal characterization of the pandemic. When it is characterized as emergency circumstances, its effect is only to amend the employment contract, and when it is characterized as a force majeure, its effect is the impossibility of executing the employment contract. The Saudi regulator has realized the seriousness of these effects on employment contracts, them is the addition of Article (41) to the implementing regulations of the labor law to achieve a contractual balance between employees and employers during that period. Resulting from this thesis are recommendations addressed to the Saudi regulator, the most important of which are: an explanation of the meaning of force majeure contained in Article (74) of the Labor Law, and a description of its conditions and cases; So that force majeure does not become a way for anyone who wants to derogate from his contractual obligations, and stipulates that the forced liquidation and bankruptcy of the establishment, and the final closure of the establishment for a foreign reason that the employer has no hand in, are among the reasons for the termination of the employment contra. Establishment of a fund for emergency, where workers and employers are compensated in the event of any of these exceptional circumstances, with the aim of maintaining the stability of the private sector.
